Certificate in ICT in Education for Policy Implementers
Duration: 3 months
The Certificate in ICT in Education for Policy Implementers is an online distance course for policy implementers in Africa . It is a collaboration between the World Bank Institute, Microsoft, Intel, Cisco, Education Impact and the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits), aimed at strengthening government capacity in the implementation of ICT integration in schools.
It was offered in 2010 for the first time by the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg , through the Division of Educational Information Technology, School of Education and the LINK Centre of the School of Public and Development Management.
This year, two groups have had the privilege of participating on the course that engages students both online and face-to-face (1 week residential workshop) and these are some of the participants’ comments on the residential workshop they attended in October 2010:

The course is specially designed for African countries and its main objective is to bridge the gap between the national ICT in Education policies that already exist in most countries and implementation at ground level. Participation in this course grants the participant an opportunity to deeply understand ICT in Education and Project management concepts that they will need to successfully launch and implement these ICT in Education initiatives.
We encourage you to get all relevant personnel dealing with ICT in Education at any level of your system to consider applying. The following people can apply: education officers, university or college personnel, tutors or lecturers, school principals and teachers.
