Pan Africa E-Waste Forum. 22-24 November 2011

Last Year, United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), International Conferences, Workshops and Exhibitions (ICWE) and the Ministry of Environment, Kenya organized a one day stakeholder forum on e-waste problem in Kenya. The workshop generated a lot of fruitful discussions and now Kenya is in the process of developing e-waste regulation to help manage e-waste in Kenya. In the interim, Guidelines for e-waste management in Kenya has been developed and awaress on them has been created. This has further gernerated alot of discussion and many interested groups have now come up to join the process.

This year, more stakeholders have come together to upscale the Kenyan event to a Pan Africa level by bringing participants from different regions of Africa. HP, DELL, Secretariat of the Basel Convention have partnered with UNEP and East Africa Network on Environmental Compliance and Enforcement (EANECE) to make the even a great success.

The venue will be in UNEP Headquarters in Nairobi. No conference fees charged but those from outside Kenya will have to cater for their transport and accommodation.

Those who are interested in attending, exhibiting and sponsoring should get in touch with me at <calebouma@gmail.com or caleb.ouma@unep.org>.

More information will follow later.

Thank you all.
