Mobile and Web Technologies in Social and Economic Development
The World Wide Web Foundation together with W3C is organizing a workshop on mobile and web technologies for social and economic development. The event will take place in Tanzania, 4-5 june 2011.

They are currently planning to have 3 sessions over the 2 days:
  • one specifically on mobile and entrepreneurship: trying to bring together people working in this area or running projects like infodev mlab . The objective is to share experiences and ideas about what works and what doesn't etc.
  • the second session they are planning is on voice-based services: here again trying to bring together people investigating voice-based services. There are more and more developments and projects around voice-based services, and they believe that it is time to build a community on this theme, and share experiences, ideas, tools, etc
  • the last session is specifically on data collection tools. The idea here is not to develop a new tool but to build a community of users and developers to define a leading open source tool that will be multi-channel (mobile, voice, web) and that will federate the dozens of existing initiatives. This event is a first step to bring together users and developers and come with a first set of requirements.
