RECOMMENDATIONS FROM THE EAST AFRICAN COMMUNITY EHEALTH WORKSHOP

The East Afriacan Community E-Health workshop was held in Kigali Rwanda Nov 2010. The workshop was meant to provide opportunities to share experieces and allow insight into policies, practices and technologies that can advance the EAC E-Health capabilities.
Some of the recommendations that arose.
I will add all the presentations at a later date during the week. Presentations for each of the 3 days are larger than accepted sizes on i-connect. I will split them first.
Cheers!!!!!

Thank you very much Godfrey for sharing these recommendations that resulted from the workshop! It really is interesting to read, since there is a lot of overlap with work that is being done on eHealth in Uganda and Tanzania that I know about.
Regarding experience and resulting recommendations for HMIS use at hospital/health clinic level in Tanzania, this publication from 2010 supports and concretises many of the recommendations made in the East African Community E-Health workshop.

Regarding Telemedicine, also one of the key recommendations resulting from the Kigali event, the following would appear to be interesting resources to bring concrete and practical experience from Tanzania into the dialogue. A question that comes to my mind is what are the next steps in moving forward with the recommendations from the Kigali workshop? How can we ensure that all experience that is already available in the region related to the recommendations can be bundled and efforts reinforce eachother? Are you involved with the follow-up trajectory after the Kigali meeting?

Thanks again for sharing!
Cheers!
