1VILLAGE Ltd is looking for an enthusiastic individual to serve the organization as Assistant Information Technology Officer to be located at 1VILLAGE offices in Winneba.
1ViLLAGE is making unprecedented strides in bringing technology solutions to under-resourced communities in the developing world to promote rapid socio-economic development. We work with development organizations, companies and individuals who desire to introduce Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) components into their projects, as well as, on self-initiated research and technological projects. Our experience in designing, developing, and implementing ICT solutions in harsh rural conditions, coupled with our knowledge of the challenges in such areas, has made us a critical technology partner for companies, NGOs, governments, international organisations and other ICT4D enterprises working in Africa.
TERM: 24 months of initial contract. Renewable
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Manage 1ViLLAGE office Local Area Network (LAN) and Wide Area Network (WAN).
2. Provide after sales technical (software and hardware) support for 1ViLLAGE's clients and partners.
3. Teach basic Computer Literacy skills
EXPERIENCE
1. Networking experience in both LAN and WAN. Knowledge in Wireless networking will be an advantage
2. PC Support and network troubleshooting experience.
3. Knowledge in Open Source Software especially Linux Desktop OS will be an advantage.
CHARACTERISTICS
1. Highly-organized self-starter with the ability to design, deploy and manage IT solutions.
2. High level of comfort with and passion for technology tools with ability to learn fast and acquaint with new technologies.
3. Effectively organized, highly-independent and self-motivated.
EDUCATION AND PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
1. A minimum of a HND Computing/IT/ Electrical Engineering. A Bachelors degree in Computer Science / IT / Electrical Engineering will be an advantage.
2. At least 6months experience in a similar role.
